You’re invited to bring a team of volunteers to Colorado to work alongside Habitat partner families as they build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter! Habitat for Humanity builds in more than 40 communities statewide in an effort to address Colorado’s affordable housing crisis, and we need your help. Nearly half a million Coloradans live in households with extreme housing cost burden, spending more than 50% of their income on housing. Through Habitat’s Build the Rockies! program, we welcome volunteer teams to help alleviate this problem by building safe, decent, affordable shelter in partnership with Colorado families.
With available host sites around the state, we’ll help you choose a location and time frame that best suits your group’s needs and interests. Click the “Locate Affiliate/ReStore” link at the top of the page to see where we’re working. Your group will have the opportunity to build, rehab, or repair homes. You may also spend a day helping out in a Habitat ReStore. Construction skills are helpful but not necessary; we’ll teach you what you need to know! You’ll have the satisfaction of seeing the tangible results of your work, and the reward of knowing that you’ve supported a family in achieving their goals and improving their lives.
While you’re here, make the most of all the natural beauty and exciting activities our state has to offer. Before or after your build week, take some time for snow sports, hiking, backpacking and camping, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking or road biking. Visit one of our awe-inspiring national parks. Explore our fun and friendly cities and towns. In the summer months, take in a concert at the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater or enjoy one of Colorado’s many festivals. We’ll be happy to recommend local activities that suit your interests.
The registration fee is $500 per person for the standard trip package, which includes lodging at a church or community center, lunches on work days, two dinners during the week, and a contribution to support Habitat’s work. If your group would prefer upgraded lodging, we can recommend local hotels. You would be responsible for making your own lodging arrangements and covering the additional cost. Groups must provide their own ground transportation, whether driving or flying to Colorado.
