Habitat for Humanity of Colorado’s Biennial Conference

Camp Colorado is Habitat for Humanity of Colorado’s biennial regional conference welcoming more than 45 affiliates from nine states. This 3 day conference is packed full of opportunities for attendees to reflect on their work, grow in their knowledge, and enjoy the fellowship of being around other people who strive to make the world a place where everyone has a place to live.

Camp Colorado brings together board members, staff, volunteers, Habitat homeowners, community and business partners to build our affiliates’ capacity to achieve Habitat’s mission. Since its inception in 2007, the conference has grown from 125 attendees to more than 260 in 2018, with seven states represented!

The 2020 conference theme is Under the Big Top, hearkening back to the days of the old-time three-ring circus. Just as successful circuses thrilled audiences of young and old by gathering an array of exciting talents and death-defying acts under one tent, Habitat succeeds by bringing people together from all walks of life, with a diversity of gifts, skill-sets, and backgrounds to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

As a Conference Sponsor, your contribution will help provide the necessary training and resources to serve more families across the Rocky Mountain Region.

Habitat for Humanity of Colorado’s Legislative Build Day

In June of 2019, Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the US launched a new national advocacy campaign aimed at improving home affordability for 10 million people in the US over the next five years. In Colorado, 14 affiliates kicked off the campaign between June 27-29 with a Legislative Build Day inviting local, state and federal government officials and staff to pick up a hammer to help make the Cost of Home something that every Coloradan can afford. The build day also provided an opportunity to celebrate the 2019 legislation that will result in over $156 million to affordable housing throughout the next three years in Colorado.

Families across Colorado are paying too high a price to cover the cost of their home. Rents and homeownership costs are skyrocketing while wages are not keeping pace. Far too often, families struggle to make ends meet. Everywhere you look – cities, suburbs, rural areas – the stability that home should bring remains out of reach. In June, 2020, Habitat for Humanity affiliates will host local and state officials and staff for a Legislative Build. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how affordable homeownership is positively impacting Colorado families!
