2026 Legislator of the Year

Habitat for Humanity of Colorado is proud to announce that Representative Andrew Boesenecker is the recipient of the organization’s 2026 Legislator of the Year Award.

Habitat Colorado selected Representative Boesenecker for his leadership and continued work to expand affordable homeownership opportunities across Colorado. During the 2026 legislative session, Habitat Colorado worked with Representative Boesenecker on major housing legislation, including the HOME Act and HB26-1313. The HOME Act helps qualifying nonprofits, schools, and transit agencies build housing faster by reducing unnecessary administrative barriers. HB26-1313 creates a long-term and more sustainable framework for distributing Proposition 123 housing dollars while protecting critical affordable housing investments across Colorado.

“Representative Boesenecker understands the role affordable homeownership plays in addressing Colorado’s housing challenges,” said Karen Kallenberg, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Colorado. “We are grateful for his partnership and his commitment to helping more Coloradans establish roots in the communities they serve.”

Habitat Colorado presented Representative Boesenecker with the award on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in Fort Collins.

Representative Boesenecker represents House District 53 and serves as Speaker Pro Tempore of the Colorado House of Representatives.
