This year, Habitat for Humanity is celebrating 50 years of impact, and in 2027 Habitat Colorado will celebrate 35 years of supporting affordable homeownership across our state. As we mark both milestones, Let’s Open the Door brings renewed attention to housing access, affordability, and sustainable solutions.
Every day, 1 in 3 people around the world wake up without the security of a safe, affordable home. Here in Colorado, 1 in 7 households spend more than half of their income on housing, forcing too many families to make impossible choices.
For 35 years, Habitat Colorado has worked alongside 23 local Habitat offices to expand access to affordable homeownership and strengthen communities across the state. Through advocacy, funding and financing, training and technical assistance, and disaster response coordination, our work supports local efforts and collective impact in more than 40 Colorado communities.
Why this matters in Colorado
Homeownership creates a foundation for strength, stability, and financial independence. But rising costs and limited housing supply continue to put that opportunity further out of reach for too many Coloradans. Together, our work is helping create pathways to affordable homeownership and advance practical solutions that respond to housing needs across Colorado.
